Maybe Smith nominated for a Bucky Award

So there I am on my lunch break, finishing a grilled cheese sandwich (as you do), when my phone rings. I pick up despite the mysterious number displayed, and whose dreamboat voice do I hear? None other than Grant Lawrence of CBC Radio 3, who called me live on-air to tell me that the Maybe Smith song Hearts Like Bears from Animals & Architects has been nominated for a 2007 CBC Radio 3 Bucky Award in the category of Best Road-Trip Song.
Other nominees (read: runners-up) in this category include Jason Collett, Po’ Girl, Stars and Two Hours Traffic—who I say have an unfair advantage due to their band name, but whatever.
I’m also excited to say that Maybe Smith friends and tourmates Carbon Dating Service (some of whom were eating grilled cheese sandwiches with me) have been nominated for the second Bucky Award of their career! They’ve previously won in the category of Best New Band Name, but this time they’re up for Best Gang Vocals for their song Starbeat Academy Graduation March.
Head over to the Bucky Awards ballot page and exercise your music-loving duty—vote. Voting runs from November 1 to November 30, 2007. You can vote once per day in each category, so get voting!
Love,
Colin
